Aging is an evitable part of living life. And aging is a privilege – if one feels supported, and can age well.
So, what does that mean? It can mean so many different things, to different and unique individuals.
Advocacy, and self-advocacy encourages opportunities for individuals, groups and communities to be more visible, that unique and individual needs are identified, and met – equally, and unequivocally. When advocacy is approached and employed effectively, it fosters a transformative pathway to lasting change, and maximum impact.
Are you a lover of animals? A pet owner? There are many benefits to bringing a pet into your home, and sharing their environment(s).
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is software that learns patterns from large amounts of data, and generates responses. It does not think, does not understand truth, and does not have judgment. It produces answers that sound plausible, not necessarily correct. For accessibility, AI is valuable because it can replace physical actions with simple instructions. Instead of typing, clicking, or navigating complex menus, you can often just say or write what you want done.
The issues concerning employment for individuals with disabilities, and others, must be revealed, communicated, and addressed, from all perspectives.
Beginning the discussion will encourage more extensive and ongoing dialogue and viewpoints from all stakeholders – and proactive steps.
A stronger economy, to include stronger, more cohesive communities – is something that we are all responsible for.
And by working together to uncover and/or create opportunities for viable, progressive and sustainable employment, we can strengthen our communities – and, in turn, one another….regardless of (dis)abilities.
In October, 2021, my daughter was diagnosed with Small Bowel Crohn’s Disease (SBCD). Perhaps you, or a family member, a loved one or friend may be at a challenging juncture in their journey with Crohn’s. You can, and you will, get to that other side. Stay positive. Stay strong. Ask questions, and advocate.
