PROGRAMMES

  • Introduction of computers to 6th floor "small office"
  • Computer initially housed in the "closet"
  • Funding, community support-donations from Optimists, Westmount Golf Club
  • Hiring of Larry Parker for Information Resource Service
  • March 25, 1985 (Canada Works grant)
  • expansion of office on 6th floor to house computer services
  • official opening of P.H.I.R.S.T. LINK & open house June 5, 1985 by Madame Mercedes Chartier-Gauvin
  • Funding taken over by Com\Soc and Region
  • 2 staff hired, Technical Resource and Human Resource persons

HOUSING COMMITTEE

  • in response to Region survey we began to look at need for accessible housing with attendant care.
  • goal to submit proposal to Com. Soc.

FUNDRAISING

  • Bingo's
  • First Lulu's night 1985
  • United Way still major funding source, however increasing income came from other sources

NEW PROGRAMMES

  • Women's group
  • Music group - outreach of summer programme

PREMISES

  • Increased activity, service and equipment and expiring lease stimulated the move to present location with "storefront walk in image" - June 1, 1986
  • Change in Newsletter Format (booklet format).
